You might say this elegant Lebus writing bureau is a part of British history.
Whether you use a traditional fountain pen & paper or a laptop, you’ll love using this beautifully restored piece of furniture.
Hand-painted to match Farrow & Ball's French Grey (which is a relaxing pale green/grey) with added details in metallic silver.
All enhanced by the addition of reflective silver rose foils, covering not only the drawer fronts but also the curved interior and writing surface.
The silver embellishments are also echoed on the cabriole legs and inside the drawers for a cohesive look.
Practically speaking, there are two deep storage drawers and a mini drawer within a lockable compartment. Each drawer front is embellished with silver rose foils which reflect any colour around them to complement your décor.
The silver cubby holes have plenty of storage space for your books, jotters, or journal. Plus, you have a useful open space below, which easily stores a laptop when your working day ends.
The original lock and key keep your belongings secure.
HISTORY
Your beautiful bureau is part of the post-war CC41 Utility Furniture range created by End East manufacturers Harris Lebus in consultation with the Government's Board of Trade.
Together they ensured the production of robust and well-designed furniture, making the most efficient use of scarce timber and the labour available.
Just imagine the historic events your bureau has seen! The letters written to loved ones, and the many different writers who will have put pen to paper over the years on this very bureau.
Interestingly, there's a large pencil signature on one of the drawer bases (perhaps belonging to the carpenter), lending to its authenticity.

Your beautifully restored bureau has so much history, 80 years of charm and character in fact!
As with all vintage furniture there’s the odd imperfection, but nothing that detracts from its beauty or practicality.
DETAILS
This vintage piece has been sympathetically refurbished and retains the original handles. In addition, the dovetail joints are accentuated to highlight the craftsmanship involved in their construction.
The silver rose foils have a rustic finish, and as with any lady of this age are showing spots, lines and imperfections, but that's exactly the way they are supposed to look.
The handles, hinges and hardware, down to the last screw head, have been cleaned and treated with coats of liquid silver metal to match the bureau perfectly.
Your key even comes with an elegant silver tassel.

All my pieces come with a complimentary care pack and care instructions. My delivery packaging is mostly recycled or recyclable.
Your beautiful writing bureau can be collected from Stotfold SG5 or can be securely delivered nationwide by our trusted furniture courier. My courier provides a 1-man service to your ground floor door, and may require your assistance on delivery of heavy or bulky items.
If you live above ground floor level or require a 2-man delivery please get in touch before purchasing, so that I can get a delivery quote just for you.
It will arrive safely with you on a mutually agreed date within 2 to 3 weeks of purchase.
